“Metamorphic Ecosphere” commissioned work
The commissioned site-specific installation “Lunch on Treasure Island” metaphorically represents electronic waste, automobile components, and the “undigested” waste from the process of global industrialization as the circulation of food within the human environmental context. It reveals the process through which these elements move from production centers to the “shadows of the world,” where they degrade into basic elements and then recombine. All the materials used in the artwork were collected by the artist over several years from observation and collection at the art exhibition waste warehouse, automotive parts collection sites, electronic waste processing towns, and everyday life scenarios. The work aims to provoke introspection among viewers regarding resource circulation, ecological conservation, and the impacts of globalization. By examining large-scale economic labor, infrastructure configuration, and spatial planning at multiple waste collection sites, the artist attempts to showcase the “afterlife of media” closely tied to labor and community livelihoods.
